A) Hailey played her first solo in church this Sunday. Well, sort of a duet. I stood behind her and played the melody with her for added support. "I Will Always Choose the Right." I was so proud. She said she messed up but I didn't even hear it.
B) Hailey also hosted a huge Halloween party at our neighborhood clubhouse along with another girl. (Katherine Clark). She planned it all. Chocolate fountain, pizza, movie, games, etc. My girl is becoming quite the....teenager?

2 stories
Yesterday I was impressed, thankful and in awe. Let's begin:
Tyler-Tyler had a friend (Jack) over. As I was driving Jack home Tyler asked Jack what he got on the English assessment at school. Jack says proudly, "900, although a few kids in my class got 1000". Tyler says, "Cool."
After Jack gets out I ask Tyler what HE got. "1300". The goal for 7th graders was 850. So not only is my Tyler a smarty farty, he doesn't rub it in his friends faces, even though the natural course in a conversation like this is to say what your score is as well.
Love.
The next story is a little more scary. And doesn't end like I wanted it to. (They don't catch the guy.) But it still makes me proud.
Nate-Last night Nate was driving home through Provo from Valoy's house. As he was turning left, he sees a huge "Thug" on the side of the road hunker down and slam his shoulder into a smaller guy and right in front of Nates jeep. Nate has to swerve to not hit the guy. Nate thinks it's two guys being idiots, but about a block later Nate wonders if the "smaller guy" was a girl, and he turns back. In his headlights he sees the Thug CHOKING the smaller one. And yes, it is a girl. (About college age.) He pulls up at the same time another car pulls up and they both flick their emergency lights on. Thug starts running towards Guy in Car and Nate drives and cuts him off. Thug grabs Girl and starts running. They split in different directions, and Nate follows Girl, can't find her, and returns to see Thug trying to get into Car Guy's car. Again Nate speeds toward him and screeches his Jeep inches away from Thug to cut him off.
Long story medium-short, the cops come too late, Thug gets away, I pray and hurt for Girl, Nate says he and Car Guy would have beat Thug up if they caught him, and I worry about guns and knives, although I agree with Nate he should always step in whenever he sees this. He was so angry last night that jerks like this are around.

My Ty is 13 :)
He lays between Nathan and I almost every night on our bed watching tv/football/debates/movies with us after the kids go to sleep. We call that time "Tyler Sandwich".
He says "mmmm" during the first bite at 95% of all meals. (He's hungry. What can I say.) He's also unaware that he does this.
He chose to keep playing football even after his parents told him he could quit if he decided to due to massive unfair coaching.
I almost look him straight in the eye, and I'm 5'9.
I adore him.
He quietly asks for homemade French toast every single morning. And I oblige. And I serve with powdered sugar and the expensive butter pecan syrup (that I can only find at one store for 9 bucks!!) just because I like to spoil him a bit.
What a stud.

Owl hike
Last week I told the kids (and Nate because he would never agree to a hike) to be ready at 6:45 with warm clothes, coat and mittens. I took them up to Wasatch Mountain State Park and we went on a 45 min. hike the rangers put on every few weeks. Hot cocoa and granola bars were after, and then the coolest surprise ever, an owl. :) Super awesome night.
P.S. Emma had "red day" at school for No Drugs week. She insisted on red hair. :)
