Things

a) Nathan-Has the flu. I have never seen that man sick in 11 years. Mine lasted about 2 days so it'll be gone by the time Halloween is here. I will Lysol the entire place.
b) Stacey-Has paint coming out of her tail end. My house is transforming. LOVE IT,
c) Tyler-Is in time out. Huge temper tantrum this morning. I know it is hard to go get some paper towels but still...
d) Hailey-Making "clothes" out of my old clothes. She needs a sewing machine so bad!
e) Emma-Wouldn't eat the "real" eggs from the chicken I scrambled this morning. I don't blame her. I couldn't either when I realized it is a chickens period. And I am NOT a picky eater. But there was dried blood on the shell. Blech.
f) Mason- Freaked me out by falling 3/4 down the stairs on his bike. For real son. Enough.

I "need to be like other moms" because...

(according to Tyler)

a) I don't buy my kids a phone
b) I sing too loud and "opera-y"
c) I always wear paint clothes which are messy with paint splatters
d) I tell Tyler's friends they are so cute and I am glad they are at our home.

Then he said, "Are you going to try and improve a little bit?"

Ha. Ya right.

I'm taking the plunge.

Painting the kitchen cabinets white or black....

(A practice one is drying as we speak. Mind you, this is pretty scary to do. Can you not wait to see what color choice I go with!?!?!)

Bloody heck.

I forgot how hard it is to have the flu. I think that last time I had it was over 20 years ago during Halloween. Yesterday during sharing time, (I being the teacher) I could feel myself get sicker and sicker each minute. By the time I went to bed last night I was out of control. Monday morning I couldn't get out of bed and for the 2nd time in 11 years asked Nathan to stay home from work and mind the kiddos. (Which he did.) I hit 102 temperature until I broke down and took some aspirin. We will see how I feel tomorrow. I will either be way better or the opposite, which means I am going to see the doctor. You better believe once I am over this I will be first in line to get that swine flu shot. I ain't doing this again (nor will I watch my babies do it.) I like being healthy and able to hold/kiss my family.

Total Tyler Bragging

a) Nathan had a father's interview this weekend with Tyler and one of the questions was, "What is one of your favorite things about yourself?" It took Tyler a long while to answer. He said this question made him feel uncomfortable. He feels embarrassed to give compliments to himself. But he finally answered that he can be kind to others, (and told a story about a new girl in his class that "always sat with her head down and had no friends"...he went up to her and told her he would be her friend) and also that he can "stop bullies from being mean to kids". That kid is pure heart. Makes me love him so much. And Nathan for getting him to tell us.
b) During Tyler's parent-teacher conference I was told he is what teachers call a "diamond". He's easily ahead of 4th grade and should be taking A.P. classes in junior high, college classes in high school, and "should graduate high school a junior in college". Then I got a call from his teacher last night who said he received a 100% on a math test that is basically unheard of. The teacher said when something outstanding like that happens, he tries to call the parents.
c) Plus he just won the Superbowl in football last Saturday! :)

What a kid. Gotta remember all this when he's annoying his sisters and being a slob with all his clothes on the bathroom floor.

$170,000????

That's how much the new Steinway 9 foot grand piano cost that Vernal just bought. You heard me. Just spent the last 2 hours watching a Kirill Gliadkovsky (Russian proffesional pianist) play in a concert here on said Steinway at the middle school. I took my girls who spent the time drawing: Hailey on my grocery list, Emma on my "dimples", (which were the moles on my arms.) Nice. I loved it, and started the standing ovation. I kinda freaked out for a second because I was standing all by my lonesome for a good 5 seconds. Lazy Vernal-ites.

awwww

Today at Subway Emma literally started crying with tears running down her face, looks up at me, and says, "I will miss you so much when I get married. I always want to live with you. I am going to broke up with him because I love you so much and want to be with you".
I had to tell her over and over she can stay with me as long as she wants to and never has to leave my house because I love her so much, too! She doesn't understand how she will change, but I will keep her forever if she'll let me. :)

UEA Weekend

Utah 's schools have two days off yesterday and today, and so we decided to come down with Nathan to SLC while he goes to school. We found an awesome new pet-friendly Holiday Inn with a huge indoor pool and water slide. Last night Nate stayed with sleeping Mason and I took the kids to Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. (Surprisingly good. Now I like a total of 3 kid movies, to join with Wall-e and Shrek). That movie totally makes me want to start working out again, eating healthier and get in a great shape, which was ironic because Nate has the car right now and so our lunch was from a restaurant called Vending Machine. DISGUSTING PUKE. But of course the kids think I was the coolest Mom ever because they could pick out ANY 3 things in the machine. Tonight we are heading to an indoor carnival that was next door to the movies last night. A perfect family vacation to start the GC weekend of laying around in pjs. Yum.
