Mason update 2

It is 3:40 on Saturday and Nate, Mason and I are now in Salt Lake at Primary Children's Hospital. Last night our doctor said Mason does have meningitis and that we were going to be Life Flighted out of Vernal on a plane . I was able to ride with Mason and it was a terribly cool ride. (They usually take pictures but didn't have their camera for some reason. I have taken a lot and will post sometime????) They put Mason in a big "bubble" and then into the ambulance to the airport and it took about 35 minutes to arrive here. They checked his i.v. and it had "clogged" up, (I am not sure of the right word) in the transport and so they had to put in another i.v. last night. (This is where I will declare....) ***NO WONDER PRIMARY CHILDREN'S IS ONE OF THE BEST HOSPITALS IN THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!*** I cannot express enough how efficient, organized, genius-y and talented this place is. No expense is spared. The "i.v. team" had the i.v. in in about 10 seconds. They replaced it this morning with a PICC line and it worked! (This is great news as now we won't have to worry about an i.v. anymore.) He then had to be sedated yet again today for an MRI and they found that he did have a few pockets of infection in his brain. (Abscess??) We are now in his room and he is slowly coming out of sedation and has needed oxygen a few times. We have another lumbar scheduled for tomorrow and we will then hear from the infection specialists on where we go from there. If everything goes well then we will travel by ambulance home and he will have home health care for another 2 weeks or so with lots of check-ups and tests for some time.

I have read through the comments left here and in my email account and I have been brought to tears (again.....lots of tears this last week dang it). I especially like to hear that you all are praying and fasting for him and having his name put into the temples. It is really really really comforting. I also have to give ANOTHER thank you to those who have taken over at my house. We can't forget that there are three other little munchkins at home plus a gato, (by the way, who wants Gato? I am done with animals. I have my hands full you know? I ship for free overnight.) Dad and Jamie were there this weekend, Kris and her girls helped the day before, Valoy and Ellie drove up with a moments notice last night, and Mom and Rachel have offered tons. But I am spacing the help out since it is unknown how long this process may take.

Anyway, Nate is chilling at the Ronald McDonald House, I am sleeping on a comfy 1.5 foot wide chair + ottoman, and Ma$e is kicking it in his crib. (Yes that is his name now. This baby thinks we have deep pockets.)

I will update again soon.

Check out Jamie's video skills. She came and watched Mason while I went home a few days ago for a couple of hours.
